Here are a few element collections I illustrated while working as a Senior Content Designer and Illustrator at Canva. Each set was created in response to content gaps we uncovered through a thorough audit of our in-house library, with the style and subject matter shaped by what Canva users needed most.

What work was done

Retrofuturistic Buildable Tiles

This is a collection of simple, modular tiles designed to be used individually or combined in various sizes and orientations. Their versatility allows for a wide range of design applications, aligning well with my department’s focus on creating flexible, user-friendly assets.

One of the biggest adjustments I had to make when moving from Fresh Stock to Canva was the approach to illustration detail. At Fresh Stock, the focus was on creating highly specific, detail-rich visuals — even if that meant they only resonated with a niche audience. In contrast, illustration work at Canva prioritizes usability and broad appeal, which often means designing assets that are more versatile and intentionally generic to serve a wider range of users.

Vintage Food Mascots

This collection features character illustrations inspired by vintage commercial mascots as well as various shapes users can play around with to create their very own vintage logo.

The rubber hose style is one of my personal favorites to draw — playful, expressive, and full of charm.

Playful St. Patrick's Day

A St.Patty's Day-themed collection featuring both typographic layouts of pre-made fonts and custom lettering pieces.

The Good Burger

A collection of food and food service related illustrations in a retro beach theme. I chose a pastel palette that was trending according to our research at the time, and I opted for a marker brush which gave a hand-drawn feel especially with proper layering.

Independence Day

An independence day collection featuring quirky characters with exaggerated lines and proportions.
